project_PEACE

2020

The projekt_PEACE takes the exhibition "Peace. From Antiquity to Today", which will be shown in Münster from April 28 to September 2, 2018, jointly by the LWL Museum of Art and Culture, the Pablo Picasso Art Museum Münster, the Archaeological Museum of the Westphalian Wilhelm University Münster, the Diocese of Münster and the City Museum, as a starting point.

The conclusion of the Peace of Westphalia 370 years ago in Münster and Osnabrück as well as the end of the First World War 100 years ago are historical dates that give reason to ask why people at all times wish for peace, what conditions must exist for peace to come into being and exist, and what effects it has on contemporary art.

The basic idea of bringing students into contact with the topic of "peace" and especially involving students with a migration history/background was conceptualized and initiated by Doris Wermelt (LWL Museum of Art and Culture) and Britta Lauro (Pablo Picasso Art Museum ). The content design as well as the implementation in the schools was handed over to Stephanie Sczepanek (freelance art educator) and Ronja Ganßauge (freelance art educator).

The project was publicly advertised and presented at various schools. Since November 2017, five schools from the Münster area have been dealing with the topic of "peace" on a weekly basis. The Geschwister Scholl Realschule, the Technische Schulen Steinfurt, the Ratsgymnasium Münster, the Geschwister Scholl Gymnasium as well as the Ludwig- Ehrhart Berufskolleg are investigating points of view, ideas and their own positions in relation to the topic of PEACE in four phases. The classes will work on content and practical aspects until June 2018.

A blog documents the different phases of the project in each individual class and offers various insights into the joint work.
